Under the new regime, CCIs are broadly defined as products where returns depend on the performance of underlying or indirect investments. This includes structured deposits, securities with embedded derivatives, contracts for difference (CFDs), and insurance-based investment products. Pension products and pure protection contracts are excluded from this definition.
