Miraibo GO – the graphically impressive mobile take on the PalWorld format – is getting its first season, and the theme is very timely. Abyssal Souls is a massive seasonal event with major Halloween vibes. We’ll let you know all about it shortly. First, for those of you who are yet to sample Miraibo GO’s charms, here’s what’s in store in the main game. Developed by Dreamcube, Miraibo GO is a multiplayer, cross-platform monster-hunting survival adventure that sees you exploring a vast open-world environment and capturing dozens of different monsters. These monsters – or Mira, to give them their proper name – come in a fantastic array of shapes and sizes, from hulking winged beasts that you can fly around on to weird spherical penguin things that you can’t. The world of Miraibo GO is truly vast, consisting of frozen mountainscapes, arid deserts, stretches of scenic coastline, grassy planes, and more. The Mira, meanwhile, not only come in a multitude of forms but also serve a multitude of purposes. Each one has its own unique set of skills, strengths, and weaknesses, and there are elemental affinities too. That means there’s a huge number of tactical considerations to juggle depending on your opponent and the environment you’re fighting in – but Miraibo GO is about more than fighting. When you’re not on the field of conflict you’re back at home, assigning various tasks to the Mira you’ve captured. These tasks include building, farming, gathering resources, and so on. Season WorldsWith Abyssal Souls we’re witnessing the introduction of Season Worlds to Miraibo GO. These worlds are parallel universes, accessible through temporal rifts that you can find in the game’s lobby until the event ends. Season Worlds aren’t just new places (albeit physically similar to the main world). They also contain different Mira, and operate with different gameplay features, progression systems, and rules, while also containing exclusive items and gear. At the end of every season you’ll receive a reward commensurate with your progress through the event, and you’ll be able to plough these rewards into the main game. Abyssal SoulsBut what about this inaugural season? Abyssal Souls is a horror-tinged event that begins with the arrival of an ancient, storied evil in the Miraibo GO world. This evil is called the Annihilator, and it’s one tough cookie of a Mira. Plus, it’s not alone. The Annihilator is in command of an army of minions, including Darkraven, Scaraber, and Voidhowl, each one more terrifying than the last. To make matters worse, Abyssal Souls throws a spanner in the works by changing up gameplay. There’s a whole new progression system, for instance, which gives you modest health increases rather than attribute points for levelling up. And there’s a new Soul system, too. This one lets you assign points to various stat bonuses that – and here’s the rub – you’ll lose in a flash if you fall in battle. The PvP, meanwhile, has transferred to a mysterious island that appeared in the Annihilator’s wake. Carnage awaits you on this cursed landmass, with every battle a free-for-all that could cost you everything. Everything, that is, except your equipment and Mira, which will remain with you throughout the season. Winning in PvP earns you Spectral Shards. These buy you all sorts of special items and rewards. The PvP island isn’t the only new change in the Abyssal Souls map. There are also several buildings to explore, including the Mystic Cauldron, the Pumpking Lamp, the Abyss Altar, and the Ruin Arena. And there are Halloween costumes, headwear, and various other seasonal accessories to collect, making for an appropriately terrifying festival of monster-collecting horror. Download Miraibo GO for free on iOS, Android, or PC through the official website.

When it comes to encouraging engagement in the democratic process, there’s the stick and there’s the carrot. We’ve all encountered the stick, in the form of legally enforceable exercises like the US Census Bureau survey, the UK Census, or whatever the equivalent is in the country where you’re reading this. It’s far less common to encounter the carrot, which is why we’re happy to be telling you about Ipsos iSay. Published by Ipsos, Ipsos iSay is a market research platform that not only collects your views but also pays you for the privilege. Here’s how it works. All you need to do to become a member of the Ipsos iSay community is sign up for an account. The questions in this survey are designed to collect information on you, your household, your habits, and so on. Once you’ve finished, you can receive notifications whenever a new survey becomes available. The information you provide helps businesses to create better products and governments to create better policies, all of which benefits you (and everybody else) in the long term. But you don’t have to wait for the long term to be rewarded. For every survey you complete you’ll earn points to redeem for rewards. There are numerous different rewards on offer, including Amazon Gift Cards, Global Gift Cards, PayPal transfers, Argos vouchers, and charitable donations to the Ipsos Foundation. If you’re on the lookout for a fun new mobile tactical-RPG to play, Grimguard Tactics fits the bill. Developed by Outerdawn, this polished turn-based strategy game is perfectly suited to mobile, with deep yet accessible gameplay, clean yet personality-filled visuals, and action that’s suitable for long sessions on the sofa or quick sessions on the bus. Battles in Grimguard Tactics take place on small, grid-like maps. With over 20 unique RPG classes, each with its own lore and role, players can recruit diverse Heroes. These Heroes can be further customized through 3 distinct subclasses, with ultra-rare and powerful factions like the Dawnseekers available to unlock. You can level-up and Ascend these units to increase their potency, but the real skill is in learning the hidden elemental effects that come from combining the right units at the right time. That, and planning your actions several moves ahead, like a chess grandmaster reaching forward through time to defeat your opponent before they even know what’s happening to them. Gameplay-wise, Grimguard Tactics is a solid bet. But gameplay isn’t the main topic of this article. We’re here to talk about lore. The Lore of Grimguard TacticsIt’s fair to say that Grimguard Tactics has some of the most involved, comprehensive lore we’ve ever seen in a free-to-play mobile RPG. The game takes place in Terrenos, a fantasy world living in the shadow of a cataclysmic event that brought an end to the Golden Age a century ago. Without going into too much detail, the Golden Age was a period of peace and free trade that came to a sudden end following a murder, a god becoming insane, and the tragic defeat of a band of heroes. What followed was decades of darkness, not just in the form of the horrible creatures that now lurk in the wilderness, but also in the dark intentions and grim suspicions that lurk in the minds of the surviving population. Against this backdrop, a lone mercenary answers the call of a tumbledown hamlet, inadvertently triggering the next round of chaos, and a group called the Dawnseekers rise to meet the new threat. The World of TerenosIt’s normal for fantasy games to take place on a fantasy continent. In the case of Grimguard Tactics, there are five, each resembling a region of our own world. For instance, Siborni is a wealthy and scientifically advanced continent that has features in common with Italy, and Venice in particular. Vordlands, meanwhile, is a lot like Central Europe, with a particular Swiss bent. Hanchura and Cartha are both vast and ancient continents, resembling Asia and Africa respectively, and Urklund is a barren, frozen region that would feel, if you were to visit, a lot like Scotland or Russia. Your own stronghold, or Holdfast, is located in the mountains of northern Vordlands, giving you the best possible chance of defending yourself from attackers. HeroesThere are 21 different playable characters in Grimguard Tactics, along with a handful of NPCs. Without exception, these characters are richly drawn, with their own individual backstories and motivations, and stitched seamlessly into the fabric of the game’s expansive fantasy universe. It would take more space than we have here to introduce you to all of them, but this pair of vignettes should give you an idea of what you’re in for if you choose to play Grimguard Tactics. The Gunslinger is witty, insolent, and swaggering. Therefore it’s no surprise that he comes from the swashbuckling continent of Siborno. The Enchantress, a support hero wielding hex dolls and powerful magics, enchanting allies and beguiling enemies. They can alter the tide of battle with just a simple gesture or incantation. The Barbarian, a tank hero, is a fierce warrior from the wild lands. Known for their unique shaped blades and resilience, they charge into battle with unmatched ferocity. Needless to say, those ways are brutal, and the Barbarian duly becomes a savage, boar-brawling warrior. But his destiny is to be a Barbarian, so the Wrakir Chief expels him from the tribe to wander the wilds, where he stumbles across the Dawnseekers. We could go on, but the best thing you can do right now is head to the App Store or the Google Play Store and download Grimguard Tactics for free right now.
